Our Engagements

Three defined advisory arrangements

Each engagement is scoped to a specific moment in the procurement cycle. Organisations typically engage us at one stage and find their way back for the next.

Vendor Brief preparation

Vendor Brief Conversation

A short advisory engagement that produces a clear, vendor-neutral brief for the technology you intend to buy. We interview the people who will use it, operate it, and approve it. The output is a written brief suited for issue to a shortlist of candidates.

  • Structured stakeholder interviews
  • Vendor-neutral language throughout
  • Ready to issue to candidates
RM 870 Enquire →
Vendor evaluation process

Shortlist and Evaluation Advisory

A longer engagement that takes a vendor brief through to a recommended candidate. We assemble a shortlist, design structured evaluation sessions, score candidates against the brief, and write a measured evaluation report. No referral fees accepted.

  • Three to five candidates shortlisted
  • Structured, scored evaluation sessions
  • Written evaluation report
RM 2,820 Enquire →
Contract negotiation workshop

Contract Negotiation Workshop

A two-day workshop that prepares your team to conduct their own negotiation with a chosen vendor. We rehearse conversations, examine contract clauses worth pressing on, and close with a written negotiation handbook tailored to your arrangement.

  • Two-day workshop format
  • Rehearsal of negotiation conversations
  • Written negotiation handbook

Why Kemuncak

The value of an independent position

No vendor relationships

We do not accept fees, referrals or hospitality from technology vendors. Our findings remain unencumbered by commercial arrangements.

Written, considered output

Every engagement closes with a document. Briefs, evaluation reports, and negotiation handbooks are written to stand up to scrutiny inside procurement committees.

Malaysian market fluency

We know which vendors operate locally, which provide regional support, and which have a history of under-servicing accounts outside their primary markets.

Structured stakeholder work

Technology procurement breaks down when users, operators, and approvers speak different requirements. We conduct the interviews that surface those differences early.

Advisory, not implementation

We advise on selection and contracting. We have no interest in extending the engagement into system integration. That boundary is by design.

Proportionate engagements

We do not pad engagements to maximise fees. Each arrangement is scoped to what is actually needed at that stage of a procurement.

Begin Here

A conversation costs nothing.
A poor vendor selection costs considerably more.

If you are approaching a technology purchase and would find it useful to speak with an independent advisor, we are available for an initial conversation without obligation.

Common Questions

Questions clients typically bring first

Do you work with organisations of a particular size?

Most of our clients are mid-sized Malaysian organisations — GLCs, financial institutions, healthcare groups, and professional services firms — that are making technology purchases meaningful enough to warrant careful consideration, but not so large that they have a dedicated internal procurement team for technology specifically. We have also advised smaller organisations on an occasional basis when the situation warranted it.

How long does each engagement typically take?

The Vendor Brief Conversation typically concludes within two to three weeks, depending on the availability of the internal stakeholders we need to interview. The Shortlist and Evaluation Advisory runs four to eight weeks depending on the complexity of the evaluation and vendor responsiveness. The Contract Negotiation Workshop is two consecutive days, usually scheduled two to three weeks after the initial briefing.

What kinds of technology purchases do you advise on?

We advise on enterprise software selections — ERP, CRM, HRM, core banking and other mission-critical platforms — as well as managed service contracts, cloud infrastructure arrangements, and custom development engagements. We do not advise on hardware procurement or consumer technology. The defining criterion is whether the arrangement will significantly affect how an organisation operates over several years.

How do you handle confidentiality?

All client engagements are conducted under a non-disclosure agreement as standard. We do not discuss one client's procurement in the context of another. We do not share client information with vendors, and we do not accept engagement from vendors who are shortlisted for clients we are currently advising.

What does the initial conversation involve?

An initial conversation is a 45-minute call or meeting with one of our advisors. We will ask about the technology you are considering, the stage you are at, the key stakeholders involved, and what has led you to look for outside support. At the end of that conversation, if there is a clear fit, we will propose a specific engagement. There is no obligation and no charge for this conversation.

Can we engage you for all three services together?

Yes. Some clients engage us at the brief stage and continue through shortlisting, evaluation, and contract preparation. Others come to us mid-process, having already selected a vendor but wanting help with the negotiation. We are comfortable entering at any stage, though the earlier we are involved, the more coherent the process tends to be.
